1957 Chris Craft 17' Sportsman Classic Mahogany Runabout
The restoration consists of a complete new 1/4 Meranti Marine plywood inner bottom , with the original Mahogany bottom boards glued up in a layer of 3M5200 and refastened with one size bigger new silicone bronze screws, thus making the bottom soak free and water tight for the next 50 years of boating.
The rest of the hull above the waterline was completely sanded and sealed with Smith Epoxy Wood Sealer and finally finished with numerous coats of Petite Fleet Varnish.
The original engine, a Straight Six Cylinder Hercules engine, has been taken apart and is ready for rebuild;
it comes with the boat when purchased.
A circa 1960 Chris Craft overhauled Chevy 283 V8 rated at 185hp powers the boat.
The instruments where missing when we started the restoration, so we fitted with instruments of the time period.
We fitted her with an Aquaguide Speedometer as well as an Aquaguide manual chronometer and barometer.
A newer 4 in one instrument gauge, gives you the temp, battery, oil pressure and gas gauge.
A custom bimimi top shades from the sun or comes in handy when the weather turns suddenly to rain.
We also installed a Stereo Radio/Cassette with 4 speakers and a powerful spotlight which can be removed and replaced with a flag mast with a flying saucer all around light . (Like used with the larger Continental models, the flag mast with the flying saucer is also included.)
The boat also comes with a custom build 2 axle trailer with compression brakes and all around new tires, ready to be towed anywhere you like.
Included is also a canvas cover and all necessary safety gear and accessories for boating.
Also included are the Chris Craft Burgee flag and the Stern flag, as well as a red warning flag and the lines.
The boat needs nothing and is ready for your boating pleasure now.
