This is a clean, professionally-maintained & detailed vessel, with 385 hours on the engines, It is capable of ocean cruising under challenging weather and wave conditions. as well as shallow beaching (draft is 3’ 3” with outdrives fully down), This 280 Sundancer is 31.1 feet overall, including the spacious swim platform and main body length of 28.6 feet by 9.5 foot beam.
The First Mate and I love its stability and roominess, It is a family- friendly vessel as well as a great platform for hosting parties of 10-12 guests dockside or anchored out in scenic locations.
The powerful twin 22 horsepower Mercruiser engines and outdrives provide reliable cruising and towing power (water skiers, tubes and disabled larger boats have all been tied-on), It has fantastic docking maneuverability, including backing in to a slip, The 100 gallon fuel tank allows for plenty of time on the water, including overnighting, We like to cruises at a steady 23-28 mph and have reached speeds of 43 mph.
A highly- appreciated feature is the walk-through windshield, accessed by a wide staircase built into the cabin hatch – no perilous scurrying around narrow gunwales!, It provides easy access to the bow lines and anchor winch, which may be controlled from the cockpit or the bow, The remote-controlled spotlight atop the arch is quite helpful when navigating at night, especially for keeping between channel markers and avoiding debris.
The cockpit is protected by a full-length bimini of new canvas installed in 2012, The side curtains are new, as well.
It also features a complete camper package for especially damp and windy weather, including new isinglass in the windshield, Power steering, GPS, marine radio and dual engine controls make piloting fun for everyone who wants to take a turn, A shower is located at the companionway just off the dive platform, as well as a hot & cold sink in the cockpit.
The roomy cabin allows for me at 6’4” to stand up straight, as well as comfortably use the head and shower compartment, It is nicely trimmed with Cherry Wood formica cabinets and can sleep 4 adults and 1 or 2 children below, as well as 1 or 2 others in the cockpit, 2 removable tables below and one topside allow for various dining configurations, The cabin is heated and air-conditioned, as well, The CD, AM/FM radio system and TV/DVD player provide entertainment for everyone, Refreshments are kept cool in the ample fridge, Food may be prepared in the microwave or electric countertop stove.
So, why are we selling the boat we love so much?
We are relocating from Williamsburg, VA to a part of the country that is not accessible to navigable waters, Otherwise, we would enjoy several more years on this boat.
