Bought in '86 used
Stripped out all the rotten wood, (floors, seats, original rotten stringers), dinky original controls and rack and cable steering.
Replaced stringers with pressure treated 2 x 6s and 2 x 8s as per Sportcraft factory directions.
Installed an Alaska bulkhead to seal off the back of the cabin and installed heat
Closed transom opening.
Boat was originally an inboard / outboard.
Sportcraft made I/Os and standard inboards w/the same hull.
Followed factory directions of the change.
Installed a 1 and 1/4 dia monel shaft, drip free modern stuffing box, marine engineer designed and custom built stainless rudder and post.
Installed a Ross dual station worm and sector steering box and pipe steering system.
No slop in this steering !
Installed a keel for straight tracking.
Installed an International Harvester 6.9 diesel engine converted to drive a 1:1 Velvet Drive tranny .
Fresh water cooled w/copper manifolds
Two station shifting and speed control is by Morse and equivalent cables
Fly bridge steering is by stainless rod to the Ross steering gearbox
Front cabin is not stand-up
Rear cabin is stand-up w gauges, switches, main steering station.
All wood (floors, etc.) has been replaced with plywood.
Showing its age now

Davits
Deck and uppers and transom were painted with Interlux Perfection Oyster white
Sportcraft hulls were extra heavy knock offs of Stamas boats.
We have made many trips from the Raritan River to Annapolis, Md and other ports on the upper Chesapeake, many times thru the ocean This is not a fast boat, but steers a straight line, turns in its own length, Capable in bad weather.
The hull doesn't leak, but the cabin has some rain leaks where it fits the hull where and the windows fit.
We use an auto pilot with it and it is set up for one.
I'll remove those fittings and the very expensive compass.
Boat was not used last season.
Wife got a new hip and I had to be her care giver.
She's ok now.
Reason for sale: Owner infirmities.
Over 55 years boating.
No accidents.
Time to face reality.
Not going to be around much longer.

Clear New Jersey title on boat and trailer.
Trailer is a currently licensed 1973 steel 2 axle Dilly custom fitted to the boat and strengthened.
Float on / float off.
Electric brakes.
Heavy duty Goodrich 16" "H" tires on heavy galv wheels.
We use a boat ramp in Edison, N.J., about 18 miles from home.
Tow it with an ancient Jeep Grand Wagoneer (slowly).
This is not a light combination.
